"The Cost of Freedom: Anti-Intellectualism and the American Identity" - My New Book Idea

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

Hey, everyone!

Thought I might reveal what I've also been working on lately. In light of the fact I'll be returning to school in September for my Masters in Political Science, I'm going to start writing a non-fiction book about the origins of anti-intellectualism in American society and how that has shaped the American identity.

After the recent events in the U.S., such as Trump's indictment, the "war against woke" declared by DeSantis and other conservatives, the proliferation of conspiracy theories, and the increasing polarization between the Republicans and Democrats, I think I NEED to do a deep dive into why America has become this way. Plus, I think it'd be interesting to write this as a non-American since most books about this topic are written by Americans with a strong partisan outlook, whether Democrat or Republican.

Once I begin classes in September, I will be using what I learn to flesh out the book more. In these next few months, I'll write the draft so I can apply what I learn in my classes to flesh out the book more. I may incorporate my final thesis into the book.

Check out the gallery above to see the cover in more detail and for a quote from the preface of the book. That's really the only part of the book I've written so far, since it's such a new project. At the end of this carousel, you will see the proposed chapters of my book (which are still under construction).

Feel free to comment! I can't wait to see what you guys think of it.

I created by cover through Lexica AI (I'm not good at vectors so I think it's a good idea to get AI to make a stylized portrait of Trump for me). I then erased the nonsense text and edited Trump's portrait a bit.

The idea behind the cover is that Trump has created a "cult of personality," much like the communists he and his supporters deride. The poster-like design is a nod to Trump's MAGA cult.
